I feel a little like Captain Kirk when I post these sorts of updates – but here goes…
Today, the hubby and I went over to the Studio 55 Salon Suites in Folsom to brainstorm design ideas, provide wall color swatches and meet some of the the salon owners. Got some great advice and we were able to get some of our big questions answered. The owner of Studio 55, Sandra, is awesome. Totally high-energy and very sweet. Really look forward to working with this group.
After the tour and lunch at Beach Hut Deli (had to give a shout-out to the original), we went up to Auburn to get paperwork settled.
We’re now certified and a real honest to goodness business. I know it sounds silly, but the paperwork, the embossing of county-filed forms, posting for four weeks in a newspaper, etc., is rather “old school” if you will. I think the lady that helped us at the Auburn Journal has been at the newspaper since gold was first discovered up there. ;o)
Tomorrow we go to Roseville city clerk for business license and over to the bank for our business checking account. Lots of set-up, but there’s something about owning your own gig that promotes a new sense of pride. Knowing that of all the places I’ve worked at before, there IS a better way of doing business and a better way to interact and care for customers. My clients!
It’s been a ride getting this all set up, but it’ll be all worth it.
